On May 10th Stuart Martin and Steve McCain traveled to Sanders, Kentucky to join and support others in the KYSSAR Color Guard to post our National colors in honor of Ensign William Stafford and his wife Leah. Stafford who was part of the Virginia Militia was also a defender of Fort Boonesborough. President of the Simon Kenton chapter Stuart Martin was able to present our chapter wreath along with seven other SAR and DAR organizations at the grave site. Both Stuart and Steve were also able to participate in the Military Rifle Tribute. It was a beautiful day to honor the graves of patriots that helped start our country.

Simon Kenton Chapter Marches in Pegasus Parade
Posted April 28th, 2025
On Sunday April 27th Stuart Martin and Steve McCain from the Simon Kenton chapter traveled to Louisville Kentucky to join up with other compatriots from Kentucky SAR chapters to have a presence at the 2025 Pegasus Parade. This is an annual parade that kicks off Derby Week leading up to the Kentucky Derby that takes place on Saturday May 3rd. It is an exciting parade with many marching bands, floats, horses, fire engines and everything else that brings the child out in all of us when we see them go by. This is one of the largest parades that our chapter has a chance to be a part of throughout the year. It is always an honor to carry our National Colors and remind everyone who sees us of our ancestors who helped start our country.
